What types of files do you accept? While we can work with almost any of the popular graphic design formats and files, we prefer to receive 300 DPI PDF files. Be sure to proof your files carefully before uploading them, as we will not be able to manipulate them once they are submitted to us.
What resolutions should my files be?Low resolution files may produce low quality printing, so we recommend a resolution of 300 dpi for best results.
Which graphic design files will you accept?Although we prefer PDF’s, we also accept “native” files such as Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator and CorelDraw. If you are uploading a native (non-PDF) file, please include all of the supporting files including placed images, fonts and others needed to create the artork.
We also accept TIFF, EPS and JPG image files at 300 dpi.
Should I use RGB or CMYK for my colors? For printing, we utilize CMYK colors and this is the method you should choose to create your artwork. If RGB files are used, we must convert them using standard conversions values and, unfortunately, this process may create colors that are different from what you had intended.
Caution when using spot or Pantone ColorsIf your project uses spot colors (also know as “Pantone Colors”), be careful you are consistent with the color selected. Pantone 412U, Pantone 412C and Pantone 412CVU are THREE different colors.
Bleed and margin guidelinesIf printing extends to the edge of any page, an additional “bleed” area of 1/8″ should be provided to insure a proper cut can be achieved. Double check your artwork to insure that this bleed has been exported with your file. Words and graphics should be a minimum of 1/8″ inside of the trim on all sides to avoid any issues as well.
Margins and gutters for booklets and catalogsIf you’re printing a booklet or catalog, please provide a margin of 3/8″ on all edges of the page. This will produce a gutter (the space between the text and spine of the page) of 3/4″ for binding.
How should I handle fonts? When using programs like InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator, it is best to outline the fonts. When using other programs, please embed the fonts and flatten all layers.
Maximum File SizeIf your files are larger than 35 MB, you should compress them with WinZip (PC) or Stuffit (Mac) and then upload them to our FTP site. If your files exceed 100 MB, you should use a file transfer service such as yousendit.com, hightail or Dropbox.
